“I told you not to trust those radical revolutionaries, Harriet,”.  Arthur told his wife.

“I knew something was up right away,” he said, “when they kept provoking completely irrational fears of racism, anti~Semitism and all other kinds of discrimination, that they were trying to make people terrified of each other.

“Yes, honey, I know,” she said.  They took away our freedom of religion and expression because of fear of hypocrisy.  They confiscated our guns in a supposed attempt to curtail violence.  They aren’t bound by any restrictions though.  Illegal search and seizure now runs rampant, all because of fear.  We have absolutely no privacy whatsoever but they live in a top secret world and owe us absolutely no accountability whatsoever.

“Yes,” he said.  “They even have complete control over the weather and food and water supply, and clothes.  Having access to harmless things like plastic, fur, wool, and leather is now a  capital offense.”

“I suppose this is what inevitably happens when we vote for Heaven On Earth,” she said.”Oh well, back then we made the mistake of not bothering to think for ourselves.  Now we don’t have a choice.”

It’s time for Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge .
