A Long Time Ago

When I was a young un, until around me twelfth birthday, I lived in such an exceptionally nice neighborhood in Queens. Considering that that was pert near fifty years ago, there have been so very many apples eaten since then, quite a bottomless pit of changes. In most really important ways I have no remaining Connection to that part of my life anymore. I’m in touch with many of my old friends, classmates, and teachers from then though. It’s sort of like a really fine compromise between what was before and what is now. I always make sure I do whatever I can to keep memories of that part of my life alive.

That’s special. Having a connection with the people from our past and more so when that past is 50 years ago! I count myself lucky to have a couple of friends from young adulthood that even though we may not have spoken in 5 or 6 years, when we do, it’s like we were picking up from where we left off only a few days prior. A connection is a connection regardless of time or distance.

Lovely. A couple of days ago, we were driving in the town where I grew up and Ken took us down my old street. Made me nostalgic and sad at the same time, especially when I saw that all the trees were gone from my old yard:-)

It’s a hard one to pick up old relationships when a frequent traveler. I have been fortunate to reconnect with some as far back as junior high, which is phenomenal since I was a mover.
