I don’t bother to dwell too much upon it now but when I was a young un, tree toppers at Christmas were all the rage. People would try to come up with distinctive gewgaws and thingumybobs with which to top their trees. Maybe they still do, and I simply don’t notice now, being currently and recently somewhat outside that loop.
