“I fell into Hell from the sky,”
Said Satan at his latest ball.
We talked of of Adam’s and Eve’s fall.
“Now I wear a fine suit and tie,
Feel neighbors’ pain whene’er they cry.
My shadow is here to your left.
I always leave my friends bereft.
The water brings me many souls.
And shoreline into which sin rolls.
Beware the ocean and its depth.”
Lately I’ve been trying to hone me poetry skills by taking advantage of Ronovan’s prompt. This is me second consecutive poem where Satan is a character, but I write quite often about others too.
I like your characterization of Satan wearing a suit and tie.

Thanks Frank. He has to dress well to impress people

I like the idea of going that extra step to challenge yourself by keeping to a theme/character. Good idea. When I first started the Decima challenge I was doing a story but gave it up. I might continue it or start another. 🙂

This line is my favorite: “I always leave my friends bereft.” So true, all the empty promises of living a sinful life….

Thanks. It’s all a lie, so It has to lead to betrayal

When my muse read the instructions for a decima, she ran away screaming into the night……

I agree completely .I just tried a ballade and got the same reaction. It seems fairly easy, considering that it’s a simple rhyme but trying to make it seem articulate and intelligently figured out, besides that , is so hard

Neatly written! Of course Satan must seem attractive and even sympathetic, to lure people in.

Thanks .Yes he has to be a sneak about it. No one can be expected to be attracted to evil unless it’s comouflaged as a perceived good

I’m scared a bit by what lurks there in disguise.

That’s exactly the point. Evil always wears camouflage
