We Romantics

We romantics meet regularly

To pore over our Norton Anthologies.

Outside our window

There always seems to be

Quite a dense fog

Obstructing what we want to see.

Each of us politely

Adjusts his trifocals

In a quaint manner.

Each gentleman yearns

To trespass beyond the fog,

To see all with his trifocals.

When one hears the term ‘romantic’, he pert near always thinks of boy meets girl, which is the way it works always. Literature uses the word well too, though.
