Dives* the Trained Dog

Dives the dog, on the shortest of leashes, bound by obedience to the strictest of laws, is a noble and gentle servant. He is so Rich in virtue.

Dives the dog, when let loose late at night, can quite seriously torture and hurt you.

*Dives is the Latin word for rich

It’s time for another poem for dVerse’s QUADRILLE #80

prompt.

I like the Latin/English word play, Larry, and the dog being a noble, gentle servant, rich in virtue. I assume he is a guard dog by night, otherwise I’d be seriously worried.

Thanks for introducing me to the Latin word, “dives”. I like the message in this quadrille. Money is not necessarily dignified, can serve well or be very dangerous.
