A Sonnet is a 14~line poem with a variable rhyme scheme. It is of Italian origin. It was brought to 16th century England by Sir Thomas Wyatt,and Henry Howard, Earl Of Surrey. The name is derived from the Italian word ‘sonetto’. There are three main types of sonnet: Petrarchan, Italian, and English (Shakespearian).
